INDEPENDENT SPOTLIGHT

Tali Leger

IMG_9187Tali Leger is a young professional who had never been active in politics until she was introduced to the Independence Party.  A 2006 graduate of Binghamton University, Tali is currently working at human services agency in contracts management.

Born in Israel, Tali’s family immigrated to the U.S. in 1989 and settled in Brooklyn before relocating to Staten Island where she attended Tottenville High School.

After graduating college, Tali moved back to Brooklyn where she is active with the Kings County organization and is a vital member of the team that helps to produce many citywide events.

Tali was among five young IP leaders ages 21 – 24 honored at the Independence Party’s annual Anti-Corruption Awards in 2008, for her work during Operation Local Control – an 8 month campaign to build county committees in all five boroughs.

She began calling in our ballot access phone room and loved the activity of ordinary New Yorkers creating something together from the bottom up.  Tali quickly became a leader in the citywide ballot access team and has gone on to participate in many organizing initiatives with the Independence Party.

Tali has become an independent community activist, including personally reaching out to her Councilmmember.  Tali’s receipt of a 2008 Anti-Corruption Award was covered by the Staten Island Advance..
